Repository Tax Sales
Arrive to the Repository Sale ONE HOUR prior to the Sale to get your Bidder number.
Public Repository Sale
Following the Judicial Sale, unsold properties are placed on a Repository list. The Wayne County Tax Claim Bureau will hold a Public Repository Sale on a quarterly basis, with sales being held in February, May, August and November. Starting bid will be the amount of cost accrued for each property.
Repository Sales are scheduled on the following dates:
- Friday, February 20th (Registration: Dec. 29 - Jan. 30)
- Friday, May 15th (Registration: March 23 - April 24)
- Friday, August 21st (Registration: June 29 - July 31)
- Friday, November 20th (Registration: Sept. 28 - Oct. 30)

Procedure After Repository Sale
Full payment is required upon all purchases the day of sale. Payments we ACCEPT, Cash (larger bills required), Money Orders, Cashiers Checks, Personal Check (with a letter of Credit. Checks made payable to; Wayne County Tax Claim.
*We encourage you to pay with a Personal Check , you will need a Letter of Credit (sample of Prospective Bidders Page) to help make the process of paying go smoother when the Tax Sale is over.
Deed will go in your name within 30 days from the Sale and you will get your Deed in 45 – 60 days to the address on your Bidder Registration Form.
Sale Guidelines
This Sale occurs after it goes through Judicial Sale and remains in the owner’s name on the Repository list until it sells at sale. These properties are sold "Free and Clear" of Liens, Judgments and Mortgages of record, to the extent we have successfully identified and service process on interested parties. The purchase price is the Cost accrued and $25 deed prop fee along with 2 % transfer tax and $74.75 deed recording feel added to the final bill.
- Owners have up to the day of the sale to pay for their property.
- We recommend you research the property to make sure everyone was notified.
