County, Visitors Bureau Encourage Event Planners to Apply

Hotel Tax funding promotes events that create overnight stays in Wayne County.

HONESDALE – The Wayne County Tourism Promotion Committee and the Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau prepare for a new round of promotional funding from the Hotel Room Tax in 2020, and the deadline for applications is Tuesday, Dec. 14.Images of a psychedelic van, a local farmers market, a festival logo and a streetside ice carving.

Since the PA General Assembly revised the legislation a few years ago governing the way Hotel Tax dollars are administrated by the counties, PMVB has been directly supplying support in conjunction with the Committee and the County Commissioners to the non-profit organizations and event-planning partners to bring overnight visitors to Wayne County.

Officials will review how the county markets events on digital, broadcast and print platforms, and PMVB will provide some guidance about how to maximize county tax dollars and provide a greater impact by working together.

Applications can also be obtained by e-mailing the Chief Clerk, Vicky Botjer, vbotjer@waynecountypa.gov, or on the PMVB website. Awards will be announced Feb. 15.
