Project SEARCH

In early 2018, Wayne Memorial Hospital, in conjunction with the Wallenpaupack, Wayne Highlands and Western Wayne School Districts and the Wayne County Office of Behavioral and Developmental Programs & Early Intervention launched a Project SEARCH Program.

In an effort to find competitive employment for every student, Project SEARCH  provides real-life work experience combined with training in employability and independent-living skills to help young people with significant disabilities make successful transitions to productive adult life. The Project SEARCH model involves an extensive period of skills training and career exploration, innovative adaptations, long-term job coaching, and continuous feedback from teachers, skills trainers, and employers.

The schools are committed to providing the students for the full year of on-site training at Wayne Memorial Hospital and hopefully in other local businesses as well.
